The Human Centipede III – Tom Six’s latest over-the-top offensiveness was released this week. Oh the reviews have been overwhelmingly negative, and they aren’t without merit. The acting and the story is FAR too over-the-top, the direction is narcissistic and offensive and the movie is downright disgusting. This is EXACTLY what America needs. This movie is wonderful.
What the Critics Don’t Get
So let’s take a look at what some critics have had to say about The Human Centipede 3.
- Because what Shawshank Redemption really needed was more human centipeding.” — Fred Topel, Nerd Report
- “If he has accomplished nothing else-and Lord knows, he hasn’t-Dutch filmmaker Tom Six has managed to give political incorrectness a bad name.” — Kurt Loder,Reason Online.
- “Tom Six has achieved the seemingly impossible: He’s made a film even less watchable than The Human Centipede II.” — Chuck Bowen, Slant Magazine.
- “No one should be forced to endure such garbage-not Six’s actors or his crew and certainly not moviegoers (or even critics, for that matter).” — Edward Douglas,ComingSoon.net
However all of these things are exactly what the movie is meant to be. The Human Centipede has always been about making the most offensive thing possible – something to disgust and offend as many as possible. Look at this trailer Tom Six made for The Human Centipede II when it was nearing release.

100 % Politically Incorrect. This is the purpose of the movie. Being offended or disgusted is not the reflection of a a terrible movie – that was the film’s intent and if the viewer is grossed out then the movie succeeded. It won.
To put it this way there is a scene in The Human Centipede III where the characters watch the previous 2 films. They are offended, disgusted and some are near vomiting. They shout how offended they are and how these movies should be banned. The film’s characters speak the same criticism the movies received.
How Offensive Are We Talking?
The Human Centipede III takes place in what’s statistically the worst prison in America – The George H.W. Bush State Prison (so I’m guessing in Texas). The warden is the absolutely psychotic William Boss (Dieter Laser) who along with his account Dwight Butler (Laurence R. Harvey) need to come up with a way to turn the prison around in two weeks or the Governor (Eric Roberts) will fire them. Torturing doesn’t phase these hardened criminals and even a castration (which we see in explicit detail) isn’t much of a deterrent either. Taking inspiration from the films of Tom Six (who appears in the movie as himself), Dwight and Warden Boss decide to make the first Human Prison Centipede – and just the thought of such a thing works as a deterrent.
What kind of disturbing material does The Human Centipede III have to offer? Well I already mentioned there is plenty of torture and an onscreen castration. There is how racist and psychotic Warden Boss is, constantly going on about “Ape Niggers” and “Filthy Mexicans.” On top of that is the constant sexual harassment and rape of his secretary Daisy. Daisy even ends up in a coma at one point and Boss still climbs on top and says “I can still make you squirt, even in a coma.” Oh, and I forgot to mention there is another rape scene where a prisoner says “I’m not gonna fuck your filthy asshole, I’m gonna make a new hole near your kidney,” – and he rapes a dude in the kidney, going on about how fucking great it feels.
Then there is the human centipede itself with the whole prison. Well most of the prison. There is a guy with a stoma whose rectum is stitched up – kill him instead. Same goes for a comatose man (“Stop bringing me your fucking vegetables!”). But the guy with Crohn’s disease and the constant explosive diarrhea, oh a position in the human centipede was what he was born to do. This is only a small sample of the pretty repugnant content so proudly on display in The Human Centipede III. As I said though, this is the whole purpose of the film – to disgust and offend as much as possible
