Micheal Keaton To Star in New Film From “21 Grams” Director

If you think the idea of Michael Keaton staring in a movie about an actor whose most famous role was a superhero sounds interesting, then check your movie listings on October 17 for his new film “Birdman.”

Directed by Alejandro González Iñárritu, director of “21 Grams” and “Babel,” Birdman tells the story Riggan Thomson, an actor- whose best known role is superhero named Birdman- trying to get a Broadway play off the ground, while also trying to reconnect with his family in the process. However his inability to work with others may lead to his undoing.

The film is currently in post production and the director is planning to hit the film festival circuit this fall.

“We’ve had great success launching films at festivals, but this hasn’t been screened for anyone, despite the speculation. Alejandro is famous for his meticulous work in post-production, and this film is unusual for him in that is has some visual effects, and an unusual sound design. The most important thing is to make sure that the film is right,” said Fox Searchlight co-president Stephen Gilula.

Fox Searchlight is the distributor of the film. It was made with New Regency and Worldview Entertainment. Other cast members in include Zach Galifianakis, Edward Norton, and Emma Stone.
