New Superhero Movie Rumors!

All this week, rumors have circulating about two big names being some of the most magical characters in all of the world of comic books. No word from any of the companies involved has stated if any of these are true. More details to come as they are made available.

First, we have the announcement that Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson just may become the DC’s Captain Marvel also known as SHAZAM.

In an interview with Total Film, Johnson said that he has been in talks with DC about playing one of their superheroes. He states he wanted to play John Stewart, a member of the Green Lantern Corps, but that plan was dismissed after the release of the Ryan Reynolds “Green Lantern” film. After looking over some of the other characters, he said that he and DC have chosen a hero for him to play. He gave the following clues:

“I will say this. There’s a character out there that we’re going to announce very soon that I’m going to play, and I’ll just say this: This character has the power of Superman, he can throw down. Just say the word. That’s all I’m going to say.”

Created in the 1940s by Bill Parker and C.C. Beck for Fawcett comics. When young Billy Batson meet the elderly wizard SHAZAM, the wizard gave him the ability to become the powerful hero Captain Marvel by saying his name. The character has been owned by DC since 1973 and has become a staple of their universe ever since. There is a SHAZAM on the famous DC comics movie release schedule, which is only furthering fan speculation.

On the Marvel Comics side of things, it is recently rumoured that a number of people are listed as choices that could be playing their own master of magic, doctor_strange_1Dr. Strange. The current choices are listed as Jared Leto, Joaquin Phoenix, Tom Hardy, and Benedict Cumperbatch.

Dr. Stephen Strange was once a full of himself surgeon who after an accident damaged the nerves in his hands lost the ability to practice medicine. After spending years trying to find a sorcerer by the name of the Ancient One in order to fix his hands. While the Ancient One couldn’t help him with his first problem, He offered Strange to become his student in mystic arts. Over the years, Dr. Strange would soon become the Sorcerer Supreme of the Marvel Universe and fights many supernatural threats.

Updates will reported as they are released.

Who do you guys what to play these roles? Tell us in the comments.

My choice for Captain Marvel is Armie Hammer, and my choice for Dr Strange is Oded Fehr. Oh, and, incidentally, my choice for John Stewart is J. August Richards.
