‘Sonic the Hedgehog’ Headed to the Big Screen

Sony Pictures and producer Neal Moritz will be bringing the popular Sega Genesis game ‘Sonic the Hedgehog’ to the big screen. Working alongside Japanese animation studio Marza Animation Planet, the movie will be a live action/animation hybrid.

Upright Citizens Brigade comedy alums Evan Susser and Van Robichaux are writing the screenplay, and the project will be overseen by Hannah Minghella and Andrea Giannetti.

Minghella released a statement saying, “There are limitless stories to tell with a character like Sonic the Hedgehog, and a built-in international fanbase. Along with our wonderful creative partners at Marza, we’re looking to capture everything that generations of fans know and love about Sonic while also growing his audience wider than ever before.”

There is no upcoming release date yet. What do you think of a ‘Sonic’ movie? Is the live action/animation combo intriguing? Comment below.

Sony owns Playstation; the #1 modern rival of Nintendo, whom now owns Sonic. So I’m a little baffled. Couldn’t this have been done in the 90s when Sonic was at the peek of popularity & his games didn’t get mocked & panned?

Dude, Sonic Colors and Sonic Generations were awesome. Even Lost World was pretty good. Point is, Sonic games only get panned now by people who haven’t picked up a Sonic game since 06 or unleashed (even half of unleashed was good. damn werehog stages had to ruin it).
