Sony Brings ‘Share Play’ Feature to PS4 This Fall

Sony announced that as a part of their firmware 2.0, which will be released out this fall, they will be adding the ‘Share Play’ feature for Playstation Plus subscribers on PS4.

The ‘Share Play’ feature will allow Playsation Plus subscribers to invite friends to play their games with them cooperatively even if that friend does not have the game. It also allows for players to pass the control of the game around on a virtual couch. There will also be a dedicated YouTube app and uploading ability, fulfilling a promise Sony made at E3.

The ‘What’s New’ section will also be updated to include friend of a friend game suggestions, which will include links to your friends’ gaming broadcasts and a real name search functionality. Sony seems to be aiming at more co-op gaming and making gaming on PS4 more social. The addition of friend recommendations is a nice touch and allows PS4 players to see what their friends are playing.
