“Preacher” is not the only Vertigo comics title to soon be turned into a TV series . Deadline reported on Wedensday that Syfy and Warner Bros. TV are adapting Brian Wood and Riccardo Burchielli’s series “DMZ” for the small screen.

Andre and Maria Jacquemetton, former “Mad Men” executive producers, will write the series and co-produce it alongside David Heymen, producer of the “Harry Potter” movies and “Gravity.”

“DMZ” takes place in the near future. After a second civil war the city of Manhattan is classified as a demilitarized zone, or DMZ. The hero of the story is Matty Roth, a young photo journalist who arrives in Manhatthan as a member of a news crew. After the crew is attacked by a militia Matty is wounded and stranded in the DMZ. He then becomes the only inside news source reporting on the happenings inside of the DMZ. The comic series ran from 2005-2012, lasting for 72 issues.
