How can Martha not know who Tom Cruise is? Top Gun was not Air Force! They were Navy Fighter Pilots attending the Navy’s Fighter Weapons School, known as “Top Gun”.

Sorry my bad, its been awhile and they are pilots so I kinda just figured they are Air Force. I am not a fan of the movie, so its not like I watched it a bunch. :)

Fantastic Mr. Fox is one of the most pretentious pieces of cinema ever crafted. And this comes from someone who loved Moonrise Kingdom and adores Life Aquatic.

“The Fly gave me hellacious nightmares” Martha, It is a science-fiction/horror film. What you said is a compliment to many horror fans. I wish I could still get nightmares from films because that is the most visceral emotional experience one can have with those films. Also Sigourney Weaver is smoking hot in the Alien movies. This could also be because I despise girly girls in film and love stronger female characters. Also with Labyrinth, the eyebrows bothered you but not Bowie’s weird attempted pederasty?

First off pederasty is a adult male in a homosexual relationship with a pre puberty boy. Also he isn’t trying to bang this chick anyway. If you are looking for the “deeper plot” watch the whole movie again and you see pics of her real mom has ran off with him. Its the whole central battle that mommy has ran off and she is stuck in this new life she doesn’t enjoy. The whole primal conflict is the fact she thinks living with her mom and her mom’s new boyfriend would be an arties fantasy. Ect ect ect I am not in to deeper meaning crap lol, I like the movie as it is :)

Oh my mistake on the term pederasty. Still I got a sense that Bowie wanted to bang a sixteen year old and that always creeped me out. I don’t have a rational explanation for it, it just did. Just so we are on an even par though I do agree with you on Howard the Duck. Really the worst part of that movie for me though was I saw it right after Mystic River. So I got to see One of Tim Robbins best performances, and than one of his worst.

Sorry to add another comment so soon but this just occurred to me. Logically wouldn’t Martha dislike the Fire puppets scene in Labyrinth since Kevin Clash worked on that one? Not making a values judgement just curious on your view of that Martha.

Wow I had to google Kevin Clash and I wish him nothing short of a horrific death. Crimes against child enrage me like nothing else!!!!!!!!!

-Death? -REALLY? Not exactly ‘a child’…..he was in his early 20’s and the kid was 16. In fact my own first boyfriend and I shared the same issue (I was 16, him 21); it was considered on the edge of possible statutory but wasn’t worth the court’s time. Unfortunately, there’s a LOT of these Romeo/Juliet romances on sex offender lists, so try saving your ire for the actually dangerous child predators off chasing 6 year-olds.

I don’t pick and chose one case to another, I believe all children should be protected. An adult should not pressure a teenager(a child by law) into sex. I also feel that if the punishments for those horrific acts were harsher, the perps would be less likely to act out. I fight for children everyday, I volunteer as a advocate to stop sexual abuse. By your reasoning you state a 5 year difference is ok, so a 15 year cab bang a 10 year old? What about a 21 year old raping a 16 year old. It tends to be an adult can easily manipulate a child into situations the child might not want to be a part of.

            May 30, 2014 at 1:47 pm

Oh that is such immature b&w crap….I NEVER said it was just ‘the five year difference’….nice B.S. Straw-man. A sex act with a 10-year old could NEVER be considered consensual. But when in one state 16 is considered an adult (and can marry) while in another its a jailing and sexual pred. list offense, its -laughable- to put him in the same boat as the Polanski’s of the world; he was a young man dating other young men…. just like I was. So by your ‘logic’, I would still be in prison and my schoolmate boyfriend would be in a grave – all because I met him 1 year too early (FL law is 17) …. oh, but of course another 16 year old boy could never be manipulative. Calling a 16 year old a ‘child’ is a cheap shot to garner emotional sympathy and infantilizes the ‘victim’; he was a young man/teen and it was consensual but statutory by lieu of a few months. And don’t bother with your “I’m an advocate”, you can still be ignorant ….as shown by your other execrable comments (perhaps for those you should try being an ‘advocate’ for gender and LGBT issues).

A sex crime is a sex crime is a sex crime. Yes state by state, country
by country all have different ages of consent hell Japan is 14 and Angola is 12(I totally feel its wrong but it is what it is)! For most of the US an adult is defined as a person 18 years and over. So yes a 16 year old is a child. If you have sex with an underage person then yes you should be tried according to your state laws. If you love someone that much why not wait to have sexual relations when they are of legal age? Sorry the law is the law. Like I said before either its all wrong or its all right, and I chose to fight for what I feel is right.

Boy….you sure do pull your ‘facts’ right out of your ass…
“For most of the US an adult is defined as a person 18 years and over” is a blatant LIE. In the preponderance of states the age of consent is 16; the defendant forum-shopped it to NY where it’s 17. As to the “law is the law”, the court isn’t on your side either….the judge tossed the case and most other legal analysts at the time said the case had ‘no merit’. It was a simple case of a greedy person waiting til someone gets famous and then using a highly public smear campaign to extort money (there was even talk the victim was going to be brought up on charges). As to “a sex crime is a sex crime”, I just pray that someone with a 10 year olds grasp of the world such as yours never sits on a jury…. or we’ll be seeing people pee-ing in public on Death Row (smh). I’ve spent more time in and out of courtrooms on this issue than you’ve even been alive.

Actually no its not a blatant lie. Juveniles under the age of 18 you know that magic number that makes you an adult have to have a separate trial to be tried as an adult when it comes to a criminal case. Age of sexual consent does not make the person an adult you do realize that right. For the county I live in, I am child advocate for my judicial system. So yes I have been around the laws and court system quite a bit. I am opposed to crimes against children and am very passionate about it. There is a great chance this case was as you said, I haven’t followed it. But nothing enrages me more then pedophiles. Insulting me just goes to show your maturity level. Having “a ten years olds grasp” hell maybe I will go with that. If more people had the purity, honesty and empathy most ten year olds have, imo the world might be a better place. I have meet way more ten years that show true loving compassion for people then I have adults. Peeing in public = death row where did you pull that out of? I never said that and that’s not even close to my thought process. I am done here if you want to further this convo email me. I am off to take my girls camping. Have a great night and good chatting with you :)

Yes, it is when it takes all of 5 seconds on even dopey Wikipedia to see the state map for age of consent shows its not ‘mostly 18’. Now you say ‘Juveniles under the age of 18 have to have a separate trial to be tried as an adult’ (as a constant) isn’t even remotely true either….each state has a different age; we have news stories all the time where a kid <18 is adjudicated 'to be tried as an adult' (hell, I was with a group trying to stop them doing that to a 12 year old). Check your info before you assume. The 'Peeing in public' was in response to your 'a sex crime is a sex crime', ref. to an actual case that put the poor drunken bastard on a sex crime register for life.

Yeah… I've got to go get ready for the weekend (plus there's a cat tummy that needs rubbing); I hope I at least gave Jowski a few more page hits (don't worry…. I've given him an earful once or twice too). Be careful.

smh… I am not stupid, I might be ignore when it comes to movie facts and the actors, directors and producers names. I have never claimed to be genius when it comes to movies, but I love watching them for entertainment and if something doesn’t entertain me why should I have to like it. :)

Oh I don’t give a fig about having an extensive movie knowledge or whether I agree with your opinions on a movies merits…. if that bothered me I wouldn’t follow the ‘notorious’ Mr. Hadley (grump-bisquit that he is). My insults were out of ire from just now hearing your “manwoman”
bit….. nasty gender/LGBT commentary are surely a sign of maturity as
          well. Stay classy, San Diego.

“Howard The Duck” is a REAAAAAAAAAAAAAL guilty pleasure of mine, maybe it’s the cheesy synth Thomas Dolby music that I will still groove to to this day. I loved the songs lol. Don’t judge me lol

Damn, Mr.X! ….you made it really easy for me to figure it out, since it’s my year too :)
And what a GREAT year it was! (I always tell people “well, I know what my folks were doing at Woodstock.”) Wonderful films like ‘Godzilla’s Revenge’ and ‘Hercules in New York’ (yeck). But I had no idea you were an old fuck like me – and you sound so young on the radio too….

Oh, and the name Alex wanted was Otis TOOLE. He went on to kill poor little Adam Walsh, whose head they recovered about 10 miles down the road from my house here in FL. (twisted, black-hearted fucker)
