X, were you confusing A Stranger Among Us with Shining Through? Both suck anyway. Hasidic by the way, not Amish. Kind of Amish, just Jewish instead.

The other great Roadhouse story is that Bill Murray or one of his brothers call Kelly Lynch any time the film is on TV and they get to the sex scene. He even did this while he was filming a movie in Russia. (It’s in Lynch’s AV Club Random Roles interview.)

About Rambo 3. The rebels whom Rambo fights with were actually not based on the Taliban. They were based on another rebel-group lead by Ahmad Massoud. Massoud was actually an enemy of the Talibans and the Russians, and he was assasinated by Al-Quida on the behest of the Talibans.

Now, Massoud might not have been the nicest guy, but he was nowhere near the extremism of the Talibans or Al-Quida. Factions in Afghanistan are based on etnicity. The Talibans are Pashtuns, while Massmouds group where Tajikis.

Rambo 3 does get its geography wrong though. Rambo is said to be in the southern parts of Afghanistan, which is a Pashtun stronghold, while the Tajikis mostly live in the north of the country.

Oh, God, you’re gonna inflict that song on us? Is this revenge for the Tom Badguy incident? Why punish all these people for what I did?

I think the reason why Hudson Hawk was reviled when it was released was that people were expecting Die Hard 3, and instead got a buddy action comedy. I love Hudson Hawk, but I can understand the audience getting mad. It wasn’t anywhere CLOSE to the worst picture of 1991. Let’s go with Drop Dead Fred, which wasn’t even fuckin’ nominated!
