Of all the celebrity deaths this year, this one was definitely the hardest to take. Robin Williams touched the lives of millions in a way that that no one else ever could. He was a huge part of my childhood. Aladdin, Hook, Mrs. Doubtfire, Jumanji, not to mention the reruns of Mork and Mindy. I absolutely HAD to do something to honor the passing of such a fine, talented comic actor.
I knew I was going to have to sing something, but I didn’t want to do anything from Aladdin because the songs from that just didn’t seem to fit the mood. Then I remembered this song from “Hook” and thought why not? But then halfway through the production of this track, I remembered a quote from Williams himself that was being touted around Facebook – “I used to think the worst thing in life was to end up all alone. It’s not. The worst thing in life is to end up with people that make you feel all alone.”
It at that moment that I started crying because I realized I’d picked too perfect of a song. When you’re alone, you’re not alone. And I haven’t been able to stop crying about it since…
I know what it’s like to think suicidal thoughts. I’ve even talked friends down in the past from committing suicide. It’s never worth it. Think about how it’ll affect your family and your friends. You’ve GOT to be worth it. That’s why God put you here.
We’ll never have another friend like him again…RIP Robin.
