The Legend of Zelda: Hyrule Warriors – & Stuff!

THAT’S RIGHT!! The Legend of Zelda & Dynasty Warriors LITERALLY had metaphorical sex, and Hyrule Warriors is born unto us all! PRAISE HYLIA! Grab some extra underwear, cause if you’re a FRACTION of as big a fan as I am of the Zelda series, you’re gonna need to change your pants from all the geekgasms! There’s A LOT of info to cover all around, so let’s start with tackling the few things in the “and other Zelda stuff” category!

FIRST UP: ZELDA MONOPOLY!!!

Or, “Zeldapoly”, as I call it… Ok, here’s the deal: Zeldapoly has been available for pre-order for some time, and was set with a 9/15/14 release. Along with a few GameStop bonus exclusives, the price if you pre-ordered it is significantly lower, at $39.99. There are also alternate bundles varying in price that contain different Zelda goodies to choose from – Hyrule Historia, 6 special edition guide books, a Zelda puzzle… and what not. The GameStop pre-order also comes with an exclusive ocarina player token, lithograph map of Hyrule, as well as 6 “power item” cards – that no one really knows what they mean by that, but it somehow changes the game play, and reactions online convey that people don’t really give a crap about them… ANYWHO, if you were unable to pre-order or this is your first time hearing of Zeldapoly, and you’re bummed you missed the Spirit Train, NEVER FEAR! There is a SECOND wave release available for pre-orders, set to ship for October 1st!

The corners of the board game are the same with the GO, FREE PARKING, JUST VISITING & GO TO JAIL spaces. This has surprisingly sparked some dissatisfaction in complainy people boo hooing that they left it the same. Personally, it’s Monopoly, so having the corner staples is not an issue for me. *shrug*

Zelda Monopoly Board

The properties to own have been replaced with landmarks and locations from various Zelda games. For example, if you’re one that goes for accumulating the pricey “death row” set up, you’ve got Temple of Time & Hyrule Castle standing in for Boardwalk and Parkplace, and the green properties have a Skyward Sword theme with Skyloft, Faron Woods & Eldin Volcano.

Other Zelda-y changes include:

  • Treasure Chests & Empty Bottles as Community Chest and Chance
  • Spirit Train, King of Red Lions, Loftwing, & Epona as the Railroads
  • Mask Merchant & Door Fee as Luxury and Income Tax
  • Potion Shop & Bomb Shop as the Utilities
  • Deku Sprouts & Deku Trees as houses and hotels

Ok, I get that you could live in a Deku Tree… I guess… but HOW ON HYLIA’S GREEN HYRULE are you supposed to live in a SPROUT?! Not complaining, just pointing out the impossibility of it.

Also, just a fun thought, since Monopoly’s theme is to accumulate all the properties and wealth you can, aren’t you TECHNICALLY playing as a villain who wants to rule all? MUH HA HA HA HA HA!

Ganondorf make it rain

Aaaand that’s that. Coming up on page 2: MORE ZELDA-Y GOODNESS! (hey, I’m not gonna spoil the mystery of it all)

Ok… yes, good, ON WE GO!

A good collection of info, and wow, your personality really shines through in your writing. It’s like reading a transcript of one of your podcasts which is good.
    It keeps the subject exciting.

Unfortunately I can not buy Hyrule Warriors yet. I’m buying Bayonetta 2, Persona 4 Ultimax, and the Evil Within despite the fact my hours have been halved I WILL FIND A WAY TO LEGALLY OBTAIN THEM! :D

I did quite enjoy the demo. The attacks were more entertaining than the typical Dynasty Warriors, and I’m looking forward to playing the adventure mode and garnering all of the unlockables.

In regards to DLC, I just hope it’s timed and will be made available for free. I hate charged day 1 DLC. It makes sense to hold the content back as an incentive to get it early, but to charge for it later seems cruel.
Hardly any company does DLC right at this point, so worrying about it is mostly moot.
If I feel it’s too bad I’ll buy the game used, but I’m not really upset in Hyrule Warriors case. I’d buy it new. I’m just not in a position to do so now.

Thank you! I try to write The V Spot in the way I would speak if I was on camera. I’m so glad when I hear that comes across. XD

As for the DLC, I don’t mind them charging a fee. I mean, it IS for extras that they don’t have to be providing in the first place – and that’s time and money they otherwise wouldn’t be spending… They could have just gone the way of “Ok, game’s released, onto the next thing and we’ll worry about it when the next Mario Kart comes out!” I think it’s great that they work on expansion content. They did release the Mercedes karts in MK8 for free though. Plus, Nintendo’s prices for extra content are really cheap. It was more annoying and expensive for The Sims having to get all those expansion packs back in the day, ugh. So yes, free is nice, but I understand/don’t mind if new stuff has a small fee. That all being said, if it’s a patch to fix something messed up with the game, then yes, THAT is wrong to charge for. -Which Nintendo has never done, to my knowledge.

Oh, speaking of free, (and this doesn’t apply to you specifically, just side tangenting here) I hate when I see people around complaining over whatever free stuff they DID get… It’s like, they don’t HAVE to give you anything, so maybe you should chill out.

Gonna get snooty here and say: *ahem* I saaay *fixes monocle* they should make all of the other Zelda skins available ONLY for those who have redeemed one of the other skin codes ;P Thus, only those who pre-ordered will get the goodies! Hey, I wanna feel special with my bonus! I do believe one of the Arkham games did a pre-order specific DLC something er other… I dunno. I do know there are others where you only get the in game bonus with pre-order… I just don’t think it’s fair to make the pre-order people choose and lose out on the other two. ;) OH HOW THE EBAY PRICES WILL FLY – I expect there’s people that are going to get the game, get the code, sell the code for a ton of money, then take the game to like a trade in place. (since I imagine you can’t return it with the code redeemed). Or what if it’s like skinception & can only handle one! “Too many skins within the game makes the game unstable!”

Ok, sorry, I’m starting to ramble as I do on facebook. Still oh so sleep deprived. Ya get me started on game talk, and see what happens? ;)

FOR THOSE OF YOU READING THIS WHO HAVE DECIDED TO GET THE GAME, AND ARE BUMMED THEY MISSED THE PRE-ORDER CONTENT:
People on ebay ARE selling the codes, some at reasonable prices (subjective to what you think is reasonable). So, if you absolutely LOVE skyward sword, you could bid on or buy it now’s are going for about 25-40 bucks. I’ve seen some bids close out at 15-20. So if you wanna press your luck. (as talked about REALLY being torn between OoT & Skyward Sword, I did splurge for the Skyward Sword DLC). *happiness*

To clarify, the others are being sold as well. I re-read that am afraid that will be taken as just the Skyward Sword ones are available there. I was just using it as an example. :)
