Dario Argento has a new movie in production and he is turning to crowd funding to make it. The film is called The Sandman and is going to star one of the Godfathers of Punk, Iggy Pop. From October 8 to November 8 of this year, they are trying to raise 250,000 dollars to make the film.

” Our film tells the story of Nathan, a young (and dashingly handsome, natch) student in the city who struggles to forget his childhood trauma at the hands of the serial killer dubbed “The Sandman”: a masked killer who murders his victims with a lethally jagged melon spoon (yes, you read that right!), and claims their eyes as trophies (hey, everybody needs a hobby!). Nathan killed The Sandman years ago, on Christmas Eve, after he witnessed the murder of his mother (and you think YOU’VE got childhood hangups!)…until he sees the beautiful (again, natch) woman who lives in the apartment across the way dying at the hands of that same masked killer (don’t you hate when that happens?). This brutal murder plunges Nathan into an odyssey into the night country of his past, his dreams…and the buried secrets of… you guessed it!… The Sandman, who’s on the hunt for plenty more Eye Candy!”
Dario Argento has been a stable of classic cinema since the late 1960s. He is one of the biggest names in Italian horror. He is the director of movies like Suspiria, Opera, The Cat o’ Nine Tails, and Deep Red. He also was responsible for the European release of George Romero’s Dawn of the Dead; He retitled it Zombi and this lead to the famous Zombi series. He also helped create the story for Sergio Leone’s Once Upon a Time in the West. While his latest works have not been doing as well critically, He is still a noted name in motion pictures.
Iggy Pop is called one of the Godfathers of Punk for a reason. As the frontman of Iggy and the Stooges (along with bands like The MC5, The Velvet Underground, and The New York Dolls) he become one of the first influences of Punk and shock rock that came up in the late 1960s. He remained a rock hero though out the years with reunions with the Stooges and his solo career . Some songs of his include “I Wanna Be Your Dog,” “Lust for Life,” “Success,” “1969,” and “The Passenger.” Some of his acting credits include Cry Baby, Coffee and Cigarettes, The Adventures of Pete and Pete, Dead Man, and Tales From the Crypt.
Outside of Iggy Pop, no information about other cast or crew have been released yet. Production is planned to begin in 2015 in Ontario Canada.
