Three days ago Fox announced Ben McKenzie from “The OC” will play Detective James Gordon in their Batman origin series “Gotham.” Today the cast of “Gotham” has grown a little larger as four new roles have been cast, including The Penguin and Alfred.

Let’s take a look at these roles and the actors who will play them.

  • Sean Pertwee- Alfred Pennyworth

Character description: “a tough-as-nails ex-Marine from East London who has loyally served Thomas and Martha Wayne for years. Now, in the wake of their tragic deaths, he is fiercely protective of their young son, Bruce.”

Pertwee is a British actor who has appeared in shows such as “Elementary,” “Luther,” “Camelot” and in movies such as “Event Horizon,” “Equilibrium,” “Solider” just to name a few. Fun fact: He is the the son of Jon Pertwee, who fans of Geek Juice Media may know as the actor who played the 3rd Doctor on “Doctor Who.”

  •  Robin Lord Taylor- Oswald Coppelpot (The Penguin)

Character description: “A man with the brains of a chess grandmaster and the morals of a jackal. He’s a low-level psychopath working for gangster Fish Mooney, who hide his sadistic lust for power behind an exquisitely polite demeanor.”

Taylor is an up and coming actor who has appeared on “The Walking Dead” “The Good Wife” and “Person of Interest”

  •  Erin Richards- Barbara Keen

An emergency room doctor who is engaged to Gordon. Character description: “Joyful but with an edge of vulnerability, she stands by her future husband — which can be difficult in a world as corrupt as Gotham.”

Richards played the role of Molly on the Fox series “Breaking In” and had a recurring role on the UK version of “Being Human.”

  •  Zabryna Guevara- Captain Essen

Gordon’s boss at the GCPD Homicide Squad. Character description says she “balances the two worlds of police and politics with a Machiavellian skill that is as much corporate litigator as cop.”

Guevara played the role of Ayn on “Burn Notice” and has appeared on “Blue Bloods,” “Person of Interest” and “The Sopranos.”
