Paramount Announces 2015-2016 Releases

If you are looking for some original movies, Paramount will not be releasing many. Paramount has announced a list of over a dozen movies for the next two years, and most of them are sequels or remakes.

The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water
Hot Tub Time Machine 2
The Gambler
Mission: Impossible 5
Project Almanac
Terminator: Genesis
Friday the 13th 3D

Transformers 5
GI Joe 3
Star Trek 3
Hansel and Gretel 2
Paranormal Activity 5
Ben Hur
Beverly Hills Cop 4

“Star Trek 3” will be getting a new director, since J.J. Abrams is committed to the new “Star Wars” trilogy. “Transformers” writer Roberto Orci is said to be stepping in.

“Beverly Hills Cop 4” returns with Eddie Murphy after a nearly 20-year gap between sequels, and “Spongebob” returns to the big screen with over a 10-year gap since the first movie.

“Terminator: Genesis” is looking to breathe new life into the franchise after 2009’s flop “Terminator Salvation” Arnold Schwarzenegger returns as the title role, and “Game of Thrones” star Emilia Clarke will take on the role of Sarah Connor.

Despite critical pans, the “Transformer” series still continues. “Age of Extinction” will be released on June 27, and “Transformers 5” will come in 2016 instead of previously planned 2017. Another critically panned film and box office flop is  “Hansel and Gretel” with Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton as the title stars. The sequel was successful overseas, which may explain Paramount’s gamble on making a sequel that few want.
