‘Pacific Rim’ Sequel Coming to Theatres in April, 2017


Guillermo del Toro, director of “Pacific Rim,” confirmed that a sequel, “Pacific Rim 2” is in the works and will be released on April 7, 2017.

Zak Penn will write the script in conjunction with del Toro; Thomas Tull and John Jashini will return as producers alongside Mary Parent, del Toro, and Callum Greene; and Jullian Share is attached as executive producer.

“Pacific Rim” takes place in 2020 where giant monsters referred to as kajus strike against cities across the globe and humanity creates the jagers, human piloted giant robots, to combat the kaju threat emanating out of a interdimentional portal in the pacific ocean.  It was directed by del Toro and starred Charlie Hunnam, Idris Elba,Rinko Kikuchi,Charlie Day and Ron Perlman.

Pacific Rim 2 will be a continuation from the events of the first film and focus on Mako, Mori and Raleigh. Although we have a confirmed sequel and release date, there was no indication if any of the main cast of actors from the first film will be returning for the sequel.
