Nintendo announced via Twitter the release window for the upcoming “Super Smash Bros.” title just prior to the Nintendo Direct broadcast yesterday. The 3DS version will be coming sometime this summer while the WiiU version is slated for winter 2014, probably to be released around the holidays.

During the Nintendo Direct broadcast, Nintendo also revealed that the upcoming “Smash Bros.” game was developed by Nintendo in conjunction with Namco-Bandai games. The 3DS version of “Smash Bros.” will play in stereoscopic 3D and run at a blazing 60 frames per second on the handheld. In the online multiplayer for “Smash Bros.” players have the option to play in unranked or ranked match (referred to as playing for fun (unranked) or for Glory (ranked).

Finally, the pokemon Charizard and Greninja have been added to the “Smash Bros.” roster alongside newcomers “Animal Crossing” Villager and Mega Man. Zero Suit Samus and Sheik will return, this time as their own characters, and Yoshi, a series staple, will return as well.
