“Who Wants to Be a Millionaire” Gets New Host

ABC has announced Terry Crews as the new host of their famous game show “Who Wants to be a Millionaire.”

“Who Wants to be a Millionaire” is a British series created in 1998 by David Briggs, Mike Whitehill, and Steven Knight. The US version hit the air waves in 1999 with the host being Regis Philbin and the 2013-2014 season is being hosted by Cedric the Entertainer. Crews will be taking over for 2014-2015, the show’s 13th season. This will not interfere with Crews’ current work on the comedy “Brooklyn Nine-Nine.”

While neither Disney nor ABC have confirmed anything, sources say that this could open up bigger hosting opportunities for Crews. In fact several networks have been trying to sign Crews for the past few months.

“Millionaire is such a beloved franchise, and I can’t wait to get started as the new host. In addition to my film projects including Blended, Brooklyn Nine-Nine and now being a first-time author, hosting has always been a dream of mine, and I couldn’t have asked for a greater opportunity.” said Crews.
